Hexagram 14 · Line 5

Great Possession五九

Da You · Wu Jiu

五九 · Wu Jiu

The Line

Whose truth is accessible and yet worthy has good fortune.

Interpretation

The situation is very favorable. Without outer compulsion, merely through unsought sincerity, one wins people over so that they too are devoted to one in sincere truth. But in the time of Possession in Great Measure, mildness alone is not enough. Otherwise presumption could easily arise. This arising of presumption must be held in check by dignity; then good fortune is certain.
