Hexagram 16 · Line 5
Enthusiasm — 五六
Yu · Wu Liu
五六 · Wu Liu
The Line
Persistently ill, and yet never dying.
Interpretation
Here Enthusiasm is hindered. One finds oneself under lasting pressure that does not allow one to breathe freely. But this pressure has, under certain circumstances, its good. One is thereby saved from exhausting one's strength in empty enthusiasm. Thus the lasting pressure may actually serve to keep one alive.
