Hexagram 7 · Line 2
The Army — 二六
Shi · Er Liu
二六 · Er Liu
The Line
In the midst of the army! Good fortune! No blame! The king bestows a threefold distinction.
Interpretation
The leader must be in the midst of his army. He must be in contact with it and share good and evil with the masses he leads. Only in this way is he equal to the heavy demand resting upon him. He also needs the acknowledgment of the ruler. The distinctions he receives are justified, since this is not a matter of personal favor; rather, in the leader the whole army is honored, in whose midst he remains.
